On October 12th, 2024, "Styles Beyond Stereotypes" will host a one-of-a-kind fashion show that promises to challenge perceptions and celebrate diversity. This unique event is dedicated to highlighting the often-overlooked abilities, unique personalities of individuals living with disabilities and their invaluable contributions to their communities, while showcasing their talents on the runway.
At the heart of this transformative event is the vision to go beyond traditional fashion norms and challenge stereotypes. Led by the renowned fashion designer Ryland Alms, and supported by fellow designer Brittany Gierhart, "Styles Beyond Stereotypes" aims to make a statement about inclusivity in fashion. Together, they will craft extraordinary, one-of-a-kind pieces from materials sourced primarily from The arc Thrift Store. These designs are specially created for models with disabilities, turning everyday items into stunning fashion statements.
This event isn’t just about fashion; it’s about transformation and empowerment. Attendees will witness a powerful evening where garments tell stories of resilience, strength, and creativity. Each collection will serve as a reminder that beauty and talent transcend all boundaries, proving that fashion can be a powerful platform for change.
"Styles Beyond Stereotypes" also serves a deeper purpose. It offers a glimpse into the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, revealing the challenges they face daily. Beyond the numerous doctor’s appointments, therapies, and advocacy for services and support, there lies an individual capable of remarkable achievements. When given the opportunity, these individuals can profoundly impact others, showing that they are capable of far more than meets the eye.
This event highlights the importance of contributing to meaningful causes that align with our values. By supporting initiatives like "Styles Beyond Stereotypes," businesses and individuals can actively participate in driving social change and breaking down barriers to education, employment, and social participation for all.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors who have shown an unwavering commitment to this cause. A special thanks to The arc Thrift Stores, Ryland Alms, 303 Salons, Billy Footwear, Crow Creek Events, Hamblen Hats, KV Photography, Rachel Arnold Photography, and Dr. Walt Francis, and our model sponsors LSI Insurance Agency, UC Health, Mandolin Business service, Fusion Lighting, HighCraft Builders, ALLO Fiber Greeley, Hixon Interiors, Keeton Industries, Roppin Rascals, Jen Sellwood, Edward Jones, Freedom Fire Protection, Windsor's Leading Edge, Red Hawk Roofing, and Brannen Homes for their dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion.
